Richard Warren is a graduate of the Virginia Marine Institute and has been surveying boats since 1999.
He is a member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors® with Accredited Marine Surveyor® status. He is also a member of the American Boat and Yacht Council and is ABYC Standards Accredited. In addition to pre-purchase and insurance surveys Richard does insurance claim and damage surveys. He has training in investigative process of boating accidents including accident reconstruction, fiberglass failure and scratch analysis, proper accident documentation and spoilage of evidence.Richard holds a United States Coast Guard 100 Ton Masters Licence and is a member of the Chesapeake Area Professional Captains Association. He has years of experience as captain of a towboat in the Chesapeake Bay area, performing emergency vessel towing, de-groundings and vessel salvage day and night in all weather conditions. His responsibility includes training new towboat captains the daily maintenance and repairs of four professional towboats (with a record of virtually no downtime). Richard continues to hone his skills by participating in ongoing education classes offered by ABYC, SAMS, and other professional maritime organizations. Recent courses attended focused on outdrive and galvanic corrosion and monitoring, electrical systems, resin and gelcoat materials. He has studied and continues to study vessel systems such as marine alternators, gensets, inverters and marine battery chargers including AC & DC circuit upgrading and trouble shooting. He is well versed with proper marine diesel and gas engine maintenance and repairs at sea. |
